May 2018 Favourites

Hey y’all hey! How was your May? I feel like it flew by, but that could be because my mom has basically texted me a countdown every day to 31 May which is when she starts her journey to come and see me! My mom will finally be here tomorrow morning and we are heading to Edinburgh on Tuesday. I went to Scotland years ago with school and to be completely honest it wasn’t the best trip, so I am looking forward to returning and making some better memories. We are doing the Edinburgh Castle, the Holyrood Palace, The Royal Yacht Britannia, and a night-time ghost tour but if you have any other recommendations for where should visit/where we need to eat or where to have a good drink please let me know! Our B&B is only a half mile from city centre, so I think we are in for a treat!

Some exciting beauty news before I share my beauty favourites for May, Glossier is now delivering to Ireland! I swear I ordered the Glossier Phase 1 Set to my mom and dad’s house only one week before it was announced they would begin delivering here. Annoying timing but anyway, I am so excited to not have to plan my Glossier orders around when I visit home, or my mom comes to visit me. First world problems, am I right? Want 10% off your first Glossier purchase? I got your back! Just click here and happy shopping! My recommendations are the Milky Jelly Cleanser, Balm Dotcom (loveee the Birthday flavour), and Cloud Paint. Every colour of the Cloud Paint is gorgeous, and you can mix them to make even more amazing colours, so I would recommend throwing caution to the wind (and your bank account) and treat yourself to them all! Sure, you’ve got 10% off, so why not?

The most exciting news of all though is the 8th is Repealed! In a landslide vote, 66.4% of Irish citizens voted to Repeal the 8th. I have now been in Ireland for the Marriage Referendum, the 100th Anniversary of the Easter Rising and now this. I haven’t been in Ireland for that long in the scheme of things but in the time, I have been here I have been able to witness some of their biggest progresses as a country and I am so fortunate to be able to call this island my home.

I know I already mentioned this in my March 2018 Favourites post but season 2 is out now and y’all, it is so damn good. Seriously, if you haven’t watched this I cannot recommend it enough. My boyfriend said he has never seen me so into something on TV. You need to watch it in order, so go get your favourite TV watching snack and go start from season 1, episode 1 immediately!

L’OCCITANE NÉROLI & ORCHIDÉE SHOWER GEL – I actually got this for Christmas last year but only recently started using it. If you love floral I think you would benefit from adding this to your collection. I got mine in a set that also came with the eau de toilette and a travel size body milk. I have been consistently using the eau de toilette since Christmas and I am still obsessed with it. I texted my mom from L’Occitane telling her I couldn’t stop smelling my wrist when I first sprayed it, lol. I want to get the hand cream too, to complete my collection!

BENEFIT BADGAL BANG! MASCARA – i had been wanting to try this mascara since it came out but just kept buying They’re Real! instead. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Well I finally found the travel size of the BADgal BANG! and I have to say I am loving it! I asked on Instagram Stories what people who had tried it thought and I mostly got a negative response. I find the mascara goes on easily and there are NO clumps. As mentioned, I bought the travel size one which was €12 to see if it worth the €27 for the full-size bottle. The cap snaps in place too which I like because I feel like that will keep the mascara fresher. That could be complete bullshit but I’m going with it. €27 still seems a bit steep too and I want to try the Lash Slick from Glossier next at a much more budget friendly price of €16.

Peperina had been on my list to try for a while and I finally made it there this month. The food was amazing, but the seating arrangement was so tight, something that always annoys me maybe more than it should. I had one of the best lattes I have ever had at brunch, seriously. I think they do take-away coffee so I will be popping back in for that and to try some of the delicious looking baked goods! We had the Salmon Alvear and Super Pizza Ranchera. No complaints on the meals, both were lovely! The cramped tables are seriously my only negative of the whole experience, but it wouldn’t keep me from returning.

WHAT I LISTENED TO: When I asked Twitter for podcast recommendations, they did not disappoint! I mentioned that I was loving Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness last month and I have since listened to a couple episodes of Motherfoclóir, which is interesting if you are into the Irish language. So far, I have only listened to one of the many that were recommended to me and that was The Irish Passport. If you like Irish history/culture this is a good one to check out. I will be adding to The Irish Passport to the mix and can’t wait to try some of the other suggestions I was sent! Don’t forget to check out the monthly playlist too! There are some summer bops on here for the warmer weather that has finally arrived!

This was my most active month on the blog so far in terms of writing (and traffic wasn’t too bad either so thanks y’all!). I shared the monthly must-haves and new discoveries in April 2018 Favourites. I discussed the referendum on the 8th amendment in Repeal the 8th.  With summer travel coming up I shared 10 Day Trips from Dublin as well 3 (and a half!) Days in Madrid: A City Guide to Spain’s Capital. And I can’t forget The Complete Packing Guide for Ireland! Well, I did not have any writer’s block this month, lol.

I love hearing from y’all! If you want to say hello, have an idea for a post you would like to see me do, or want to collaborate, you can contact me here or send me a DM on Instagram. You can also send me a message on Facebook or @ me on Twitter. Don’t forget I am on Bloglovin’ and Pinterest too if you want to follow along there as well!
