Every Day Makeup - As of Recently
You might not know but I work a full-time office job during the week. I don’t work in a glamourous industry, but I don’t let this stop me from putting a bit of effort into my look. I’ve compiled what I use to achieve a minimal effort, simple look for the work week below.
I prime my face one of two ways. I know I should probably just stick to one, but I don’t because that ain’t my style.
Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe Herbs And Rosewater – I know everyone has this but for good reason. It is beyond hydrating and it smells unreal. I sometimes prep my face with a couple of sprays and let it soak in before I apply my foundation.
This Works In Transit Camera Close-Up – I got a sample of this in a Glossybox and packed it away for a while. I stumbled across it again later, as you do with beauty samples, and gave it a go. It is one of the better primers I have used but I realistically won’t be spending €40 on a full-size bottle once the sample runs out.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation – I don’t know what kept me from trying this foundation for so long. A little bit goes a long way and the coverage is amazing. The only thing I don’t like is that I have to pour it out on my hand as there is no pump. It takes a few tries to get it down to the perfect angle to get the right amount!
Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer– This is brilliant for dark circles under the eyes. The package says it is an ‘anti-fatigue’ concealer and lemme tell you, it is just that. No gimmick.
MAC Blush in Blushbaby – This has been my absolute favourite blush since I was 15. The colour is perfect throughout every season and the product lasts F O R E V E R. You can use a little for a natural look or build it up for more drama.
Benefit KaBrow – I was given this by a girl who did my brow wax at Benefit on Fleet Street because the fire alarm would not stop blaring the entire time I was getting my brows done. I don’t use this every single day as my eyebrows, thankfully, are quite full naturally. But if I want a little extra oomph or they’re being unruly I will pop some on and they stay in place the entire day.
Collection Sheer Loose Powder – I wanted to try a loose powder, so I bought this one at Boots for around €4. I didn’t like this at first but the more I used it, the more I liked it. Easy on and keeps everything in place. Can’t complain for €4!
De Bruyere Jumbo Eye Pencil in Bubble 07 – When I think of all the Glossybox items I got and really enjoyed/still use when I was subscribing, I am thinking I should start up my subscription again! Anyway, I love how easily this creamy pencil glides on. It doesn’t stay put great without a primer, but it is an easy solution to early morning makeup without trying too hard.
Kiko Milano Eyeliner – This eyeliner is affordable, glides on, stays in place, and the actual pencil has lasted me for over a year. What more could you want? I couldn't find the exact eyeliner I use on their website so I have linked something similar.
Mascara – I use two mascaras every day. First, I curl my lashes and apply the first coat with Rimmel Wonder’Full Mascara. I then do a second coat with Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. The Maybelline mascara makes it look like you are wearing false lashes for around a tenner.
I don’t typically wear anything on my lips to work but if I do it is L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Lip Liner in Bois De Rose 302 mixed with Lord & Berry 20100 Maxi Matte Crayon Lipstick (another Glossybox find!) in the colour Intimacy. Unfortunately, it appears they have discontinued this colour! I wear the lip liner all over my lips as a base and then add the crayon lipstick to make a really pretty blush colour. I always get compliments on the colour when I do this!
I didn’t think that I used that much makeup every day to construct such a minimal look but when listed out….kind of embarrassing how much makeup it takes to make it look like you’re not wearing any! What are your every day essentials?
