Discovering Dublin: 5 Local Coffee Spots to Check Out

Dublin, renowned for her rich history, charming streets, warm hospitality, and let’s face it…beer. However, amidst the cobblestone lanes and historic landmarks, there lies a hidden gem of a drink that has nothing to do with alcohol - the city's thriving coffee scene. From bustling coffee shops to specialty roasters, Dublin has evolved into a hub for coffee enthusiasts, offering a diverse range of flavors and experiences. The five local coffee spots I am sharing today only scratch the surface of what Dublin has to offer when it comes to coffee and cafes.

The Morning: One of my personal favorites. I cannot go here without getting the iced dulche de leche. It is a little pricey for the amount of coffee you get but it is so good I cannot resist! Be sure to pick up a piece of their amazing focaccia or a sweet bun to go with your drink! They also have bags of coffee for purchase to take home if you end up liking it as much as I do.

The Black Sheep: Not to be confused with a pub with the same name! The iced vanilla oat latte here is just SO good. I know it is a basic drink but it tastes anything but basic here. They have bags of beans or ground coffee available for purchase along with cute mugs, teacups and other knick-knacks. I currently have a bag of their coffee in my cupboard that I love to make in my French press. Yum!

Bewley’s: Grab a coffee or pot of tea here but be sure to drop in and enjoy the ambiance of this celebrated building that is also a cultural institution that has helped shape Ireland’s artistic and literary heritage. The buzz of Grafton Street only adds to the experience. Both visitors and locals enjoy their choice of drink in this truly unique setting.

3FE: If you're serious about coffee, 3FE (Third Floor Espresso) is a must-visit destination. Hailed as one of Dublin's pioneering specialty coffee shops, 3FE consistently pushes the boundaries of taste and quality. The flagship store is on Grand Canal Street but they have many locations around Dublin. The knowledgeable staff is always ready to guide you through their rotating selection of beans, guaranteeing a truly memorable and enlightening coffee experience.

This minimalist coffee bar is a haven for coffee purists, with its focus on brewing techniques and showcasing the flavors of each bean.
