Dining in Dublin: Beckett & Bull

Y’all, I have found my new favorite brunch place in Dublin. We moved to D6 a little over a year ago but only recently gave Beckett & Bull a go. Most Saturday mornings I make a fry at home for us but one morning I just had the urge to try somewhere new and I am beyond delighted that Beckett & Bull was there to answer the call.

I had the Crab Benedict (€13) and my partner had the Breakfast Plate (€12). The prices for both meals are pretty average for brunch in Dublin. The amount of food, as well as the quality of the food, we got for these prices was more than reasonable. I even splurged and had their Cocktail Special, a Mixed Berry Gin Mojito. The special was €7, a below average price for a cocktail in Dublin. As with most gin cocktails, this was so refreshing. The mason jar it comes in is a cute nod to the somewhat hipster vibe of the place without being obnoxious.

The atmosphere is relaxed, but cool. I loved the exposed brick and tile on the walls. We sat towards the back of the building in a conservatory area that had beautiful natural lighting. The rest of the restaurant was a bit dark compared to this so if given a choice like we were, choose the back. It is also less crowded back here. The music was a mix of mostly 80s and 90s hits with an added beat to it. I wouldn’t say they were remixes necessarily but it was upbeat and fun. It would have probably been a bit much if I had been hungover, but I wasn’t so I was loving hearing some songs of my childhood in a different way. The staff is attentive but not too in your business. My favorite kind of service!

I cannot wait to come back here again for brunch to try the other offerings that I was debating getting. The dinner menu looked pretty good too so I may have to try it too! This is a perfect lazy and affordable Saturday brunch to try with your partner or girlfriends.
